Participatory Approaches

PEANuT Project - Mutual Environments are an associate of Northumbria University's PEANuT project. To contact them give Catherine Butcher a call on 0191 2610629.

3Ps - 3Ps are an associate of the PEANuT project based in York.

Software

Mozilla - Home of the Firefox browser and Thunderbird mail client. They are both free and have loads of add-ons.

Open Office - Open office is an open source (free to download and use) office suite. It has word processor, spreadsheet, database and presentation modules.

TextStat - Is a great little program for analysing qualitative information. Its free to download and use.

Freemind - We haven't tested this yet but will do in the near future. Its an open source software program to mind map.

Compendium - Available for free download from the Open University, from their website... 'Compendium is a software tool providing a flexible visual interface for managing the connections between information and ideas.' We've yet to test this but will do so soon.

Inkscape - An open source vector (line) drawing program.

Serif - A software company selling affordable design related software.

Filezilla Client - The free to download and use client version of Filezilla allows you to access the back-end of a website to manage files.

Notepad ++ - The free to download and use software program, from their website... 'Notepad++ is a free (free as in "free speech", but also as in "free beer") source code editor and Notepad replacement, which supports several programming languages, running under the MS Windows environment.

Creative Approaches

Effie Burns Glass - Effie was instrumental in setting up the Cobalt studios in Newcastle. She is primarily a glass artist who undertakes project work covering diverse subjects and using creative approaches in schools and elsewhere.
